Who Is Behind Les Chic Herbs?
Hi, I’m Sarah Richards.
After more than 25 years as a lavender farmer, I’ve returned to the creative pursuits that have inspired me throughout my life—photography, painting, jewelry design, and functional art. Nature has always been my greatest source of inspiration, whether I was cultivating lavender fields or capturing the beauty of the world through a camera lens.
During college, I spent a year living in Provence, France. The experience sparked a lifelong love of French language, culture, art, and design. That affection is reflected in the name Les Chic Herbs—a nod to the elegance, creativity, and natural beauty that continue to influence my work.
Over the years, I have called many places home, including two remarkable islands: Whidbey Island, Washington, and Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. Though separated by thousands of miles, both islands share a special character—each is home to six distinct towns, each with its own unique personality and sense of community.
Today, my work combines photography, painting, and handcrafted creations inspired by nature, travel, and everyday moments of beauty. I’m delighted to share these creations with you and look forward to connecting with others who find joy in art, nature, and creativity.
