Category: Composite Works

Some photographs capture a moment exactly as it appeared. Others become the starting point for something entirely new.

These composite works begin with my original photographs and evolve through layers of creativity, combining multiple images, textures, colors, and digital techniques to create scenes that could never exist in a single frame. A flower may become a landscape, a garden may transform into an abstract design, or familiar elements from nature may be woven together into something whimsical, surprising, or dreamlike.

My years as a photographer taught me to observe the world carefully. Creating composite works allows me to go a step further and explore the world as imagination sees it. These pieces blur the line between photography and painting, reality and possibility.

Each image begins with something real, but the destination is often somewhere entirely unexpected.

This is an image I created to show the feeling of being near the water and seeing these magnificent birds flying over it. Check out Eagle Gliding Over Rocky Coastline — available… Read more

I like the sense of finding one’s way through times that might be unclear. Check out Seagull and Trees… Read more

    Food Chain

I finally was getting back into painting. But, I had an old contour map which I crumpled up and brushed over with paint. Then I cut up pieces that reminded me of kelp and the painting unfolded from there. Years ago, when I was certified in scuba diving I realized that not only was swimming… Read more

    Mandala #1

Being a farmer I take pictures of what I grow. This mandala was made from an image of pumpkins and squash (see below). I used apps that can change colors and then twist into various shapes. They are super fun to use, one of my favorites is Circular Tiny Planet Editor. Check out Mandala #1… Read more
