Photography has been one of my constant companions for as long as I can remember. I started with a simple Brownie camera as a child and have been looking at the world through a lens ever since.

These photographs are more than images of beautiful places. They are moments that caught my attention while wandering beaches, hiking trails, working farms, city streets, gardens, and back roads. Some were taken close to home on Martha’s Vineyard and Whidbey Island. Others come from travels through Europe, North Africa, Australia, and beyond.

What draws me to a photograph is often the story behind it—a glacial pond hidden in the woods, a weathered farm overlooking a prairie, the play of light on water, or an unexpected pattern in nature.

Sometimes the story is thousands of years old. Sometimes it lasts only a few seconds before the light changes. My years as a farmer taught me to pay attention to seasons, weather, and the small details many people pass by.

Photography became a way to preserve those fleeting moments and share them with others. I hope these images encourage you to slow down, look a little closer, and discover the beauty, history, and wonder that surround us every day.

    Compass Rose of Maple Leaves

Some sailors taught their children to “box a compass” which means to name the points going all around the circle. The main product of a lavender farm is the Lavender Essential Oil. To get it we had an alembic still made of copper with a long rotating column that held about 90 pounds of lavender. • Lily Pads

    Lily Pads

I’ve always been fascinated by water lilies and the way they transform an ordinary pond into something almost painterly. As an East Coaster, I would simply… Read more
